Building Relationships With Kids - Learning Disabilities

Building Relationships With Kids - Learning Disabilities
Relationships take hard work to build. Asking a kid about their day usually results in one or three words, such as fine or I don’t know. Of course they know how their day went. They choose not to discuss it with you.

Follow Your Rules

It is back to school for kids, as well as some parents.  As adults, we sometimes think we know so much more than the kids...and we do.  One important thing to remember is that we never get to old or wise to learn new things.

Truth is, we are all teachers.  Someone is learning from us, whether we realize it or not.  Practice what you preach.  Be polite, listen to others, and help somebody when in need.  Focus on  developing your own character.  Be the best that you can be.  You won't have to say a word.  Your actions will speak for you.

Happiness

I just began to read a new book written by Brendon Burchard called "The Charge".  After reading the introduction and first chapter, I began to think about the things that motivate me.  These pages of his book allowed me to think of things in terms of needs and wants.  We need food, water, and shelter to survive.  Beyond that, it is a want.  All of the things in the world cannot make us truly happy.  Happiness comes from within.

Encourage Yourself

Two words.  Stress Kills.  Learn to enjoy life and stop worrying about things that you can't change.  Live one day at a time and let tomorrow worry about itself.  When tomorrow comes, things will be different.  Even if it's a days closer to change.  Encourage yourself!
